BUSAN, South Korea — The Busan District Public Prosecutors’ Office, which is investigating shipping industry corruption, requested arrest warrants for two people including Mr. Kim, the director of Korean Register of Shipping.
Mr.Kim is currently under suspicion of serving officials from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and giving gift cards to ministry officials since December, 2012.
He is also charged with giving a 50 million won bribe to his superior.
This new indictment has changed the Busan District Public Prosecutors’ Office from a special investigation team to a special investigation headquarters. The headquarters’ ultimate goal is to root out corrupt links between businessmen and politicians.
