Two foreign teachers were arrested last month for stealing a car and then driving while intoxicated.
According to the Busan Ilbo, Saha-gu police arrested the two teachers around 2:30 a.m. on the 22nd of February after the pair had stolen a car with a value of five million won from a residential area and went for a joy ride in Hadan. They were pulled over after driving about 1.5 kilometers with a blood alcohol level of 0.15%, nearly three times the legal limit and didn’t possess a Korean driver’s license.
According to the police, the two, including the 26-year-old driver, were to return home to their home countries the next day after completing their final semester at their elementary schools.
The owner of the vehicle had left the car door open as his lock was broken, though had not left any valuables inside.
Charges of car theft and drunk driving are pending the investigation, though the two apparently have left the country.
