After a flourishing career in and out of Korea, the Swedish Ecuadorian artist, Gaby Berglund Cardenas, has been invited by the prestigious Gallery Idm to present her new series "Tree of Life", which was born after her trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. The series highlights her concern for ''the destruction of trees and the cultural genocide that still affects us today.''

Without limiting herself to any particular medium Cardenas expresses her visual poetry through printmaking, painting and drawing in this mixed media series of large scale collages. “I want to bring awareness over issues that concern us all. I explore universal themes such as motherhood, love, the search for identity and, above all, human relations, materialism, communication and the suffering they inevitably involve. ”

Period: August 23-31, 2012
