A new plan by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Aviation will see premium high speed express trains get you from Busan to Seoul in under two hours beginning this summer.
While the dates aren’t set yet, the plan is to have trains run directly from Busan to Seoul in 1 hour and 50 minutes with no stops along the way. The service is tentatively planned to begin at some point in June or July.
The Ministry is hoping that more express trains will run between the two largest cities without stops. They are also looking at doubling the amount of trains with less than three stops between the cities.
The SRT which runs to Sukseo Station to Busan Station will have its high speed express train cut 25 minutes from the current 2 hours and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 50 minutes.
The KTX to Seoul Station from Busan Station will also be available for non-stop runs from summer according to the plans.
The Ministry is also currently reviewing different ways to differentiate the price.
