Tongyeong Cable Car Restarts Operations After Safety Issues Resolved

BUSAN, South Korea — The Tongyeong Cable Car began operation yesterday, April 30th after the cable car had ceased operation due to two failures this year, the most recent being April 25th.

An official of Tongyeong Tourism Development Corporation said it had received a report that the cable and the electric and machinery sectors were safe. The report came after a joint inspection by Gyeongnam Province and the Specialized Institution.

Cable car officials said they will conduct a 2-hour trial run at 7 a.m. every morning to ensure the car’s safety. Special transportation measures will be set up as well.
