South Korean outfielder and Busan native Choo Shin-soo will undergo a season-ending elbow surgery, the Major League Baseball (MLB) club announced earlier this week.
The Rangers said Choo will have an operation to remove bone spurs from his left elbow and will miss the remainder of the season. They added they expect him back at full strength at the start of next year.
Choo finished his disappointing first campaign in Texas batting .242 with 13 home runs and 40 RBIs in 123 games.
Choo signed a 7-year $130 million contract at the end of last year.
