The Lotte Giants will host events to honor Foreigners' Day at today and tomorrow's game with Samsung, in Sajik Stadium. A staff member with Lotte Giants said the events are to expand kinship and communication with foreigners living in the city.

Park Tae-hwan Sets National Trials Record

South Korean swimming star Park Tae-hwan today won his sixth race at the ongoing national team trials for the upcoming Asian Games, taking the 400-meter individual medley with a meet record. 

In Gimcheon, about 230 kilometers southeast of Seoul, Park came in first with a time of 4:23.21, shedding 0.22 second off the previous mark.

Pohang Defeats IPark 2-0

The Busan IPark's dismal second half continued Sunday after dropping a 2-0 decision to table leaders Pohang at the Pohang Steelyard Sunday evening.

Kang Soo-il and Shin Gwang-hoon's second half goals sealed the three points for Pohang, who kept a two point lead in the table with 33 points after 16 matches.

The IPark remain tenth in the table with three wins, five draws and eight defeats for 14 points on the campaign.

Fagner Doubles, IPark Draw Incheon 2-2

Brazilian Fagner scored twice Sunday evening as the Busan IPark drew Incheon 2-2 at the Busan Asiad World Cup Stadium.

After Fagner opened the scoring in the 51st minute, Incheon fought back as Moon Sang-yoon netted in the 66th minute.

Fagner then hit his second in the 78th before fellow compatriot Ivo equalized in the 87th to give Incheon the draw.

The IPark remain 10th in the table before heading to league leaders Pohang next Sunday.


 

South Korean Football Coach Resignation Rejected by KFA

SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korea's football governing body announced today it has rejected a resignation offer by men's national team head coach Hong Myung-bo in the wake of the country's winless FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
