KT Slumping as Playoffs Near
The KT Sonic Boom need Charles Rhodes ankle to recover and fast.
Chris Williams scored 29 points and Choi Jin-soo added 24 as the Goyang Orions defeated the KT Sonic Boom 84-72 Friday night in Busan.
The Sonic Boom’s injured starting center Rhodes has missed the past three games nursing an ankle injury, and have lost all three. They have lost the last four of five.
Park Sang-oh scored 23 for KT, while Reggie Okosa notched 20.
Goyang came out on fire in the first quarter, connecting on 69% of their shots. After Cho Dong-Hyun hit two free throws to tie the game at 16 on Daniel Sandrin's third foul with 1:33 left, Goyang rattled off six straight points to take a 22-16 lead.
After Chris Williams four straight points gave Goyang a 35-28 lead midway through the second, KT went on an 8-0 run over the next 2:41 to take their first lead of the game.
Chris Williams scored ten consecutive points for Goyang in the third giving them a five point lead in the third, capping off an impressive game which also included six rebounds, eight assists and five steals.
Kim Hyun-min could have brought KT back to within six with three minutes to go, but missed three of four free throws, paving the way for Goyang to outscore KT 9-5 down the stretch to mark their second straight win.

Ira Clark dropped 41 points and 13 rebounds as the Seoul Samsung Thunder defeated the KT Sonic Boom 80-77 Tuesday night.

Samsung improved their record to 12-38 with the win, while KT remains steady in third with a 30-20 record.
KT Sign Reggie Okosa
The KT Sonic Boom have picked up Reggie Okosa for a five game loan to replace the injured Charles Rhodes, who is nursing an ankle injury.
Okosa has played most recently in Japan, and has played previously in the KBL for Wonju, helping them to win a championship.
"Rhodes sprained his ankle. It is not serious. But he says that he got some pains on that. We do not need to push him harder. We just needed a player to replace Rhodes for a while," according to Eurobasket.
Okosa averaged 18.4 points and 12.3 rebounds at 2007-08 season with the Dongbu Promy
Rhodes missed his first game of the season on Sunday, a disappointing 73-51 loss to Anyang KGC.
KT Falls at Home, Wonju Wins Regular Season Title
Wonju Dongbu Promy continued their dream season, winning the regular season championship and their 14th game in a row with a convincing 73-60 win over KT. It’s the fourth regular season championship in the teams 15 year history.
Last year, the Sonic Boom clinched the regular season title on Wonju's home court on route to their record setting 41 win season. But this year, Promy returned the favor and staked their claim as the team to beat.
“We’re the number one seed so it would appear that way, but we have to be weary of losing focus. Honestly, anyone can beat anyone given the right match-up,” starting center Rod Benson said after the game.
Lee Gwang-jae led Wonju with 18 points, including two three pointers, and the top ranked Promy finished the game on a 18-6 run to take the regular season championship.
Benson added 16 points, and 13 rebounds to pace Wonju to their league best 40-7 record.
Wonju took control of the game midway through the first, when Yoon Ho-young connected for five consecutive points to give Wonju a 17-14 lead.
Park Ji-hyun's layup with 3:23 left to go in the second gave Wonju their biggest lead of the first half, taking a 31-26 lead.
KT opened the second half scoring the first four points to take a 35-34 lead, but sloppy play let Wonju recover to go on an 11-0 run led by Lee Gwang-jae's six points to give Wonju a 45-35 lead midway through the third.
KT used an 8-0 run of their own to cut the lead to two before Benson's four points led Wonju back to close the third with a 51-47 lead.
Benson drew a hard foul at 6:41 of the fourth on a charge by Pyo Myung-il, shifting the momentum KT had built. After Yang Woo-seub brought KT within two with 5:53 left, Lee Gwang-jae scored eight of Wonju’s final 15 points to seal the win.
“It was the wrong play for his team and it gave us the momentum we needed to move forward,” said Benson.
Wonju retains home court advantage throughout the playoffs, and will be looking for their first league title since the 2007-08 season.
Charles Rhodes led KT with 14 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, while Park Sang-oh also chipped in 14 points in defeat.

SK got into foul trouble early in the third, losing starters Park Gi-Hyun and Kim Hyo-bum in the first three minutes with four fouls each. Park Sang-oh's layup with 2:04 left in the third gave KT a 47-45 lead, their first since the first basket of the game.

The first quarter belonged to Haynes, as he scored 16 in the quarter to give the Sakers a 26-22 advantage. KT center Charles Rhodes picked up two early fouls, and was forced to the bench after only 5:57 of the first with 7 points, where he remained for the rest of the first half.
Cho Dong-Hyun led a second quarter KT comeback, scoring six points on a 11-2 run over six minutes to give KT a 35-32 lead. But Haynes closed out the half scoring the final six points to give LG a 38-35 halftime advantage.

KT Survive Another Scare, But Beat Wonju
The Sonic Boom survived another fourth quarter scare Sunday afternoon, but held on to beat first place Wonju Dongbu Promy 72-65.
The second quarter was as physical as the first, but KT used a 12-3 run to end the second to take a 14 point lead at halftime.
Wonju's frustrations were clearly evident at the beginning of the third, as they were on the end of multiple bad or non-calls which allowed KT to jump out to a 10-1 run, giving them a 20 point lead.
“We made a lot of mistakes, but the rhythm was disturbed early and that’s three straight games the rhythm has been determined early,” said Rod Benson.
But Wonju came out firing in the fourth, cutting the lead to 9 when Charles Rhodes fouled out after a Rod Benson steal and layup with 5:28 left. Ahn Jae-wook led the comeback with three key three pointers, but Choi Yoon-ho missed three crucial free throws with 29.1 seconds left which was enough for KT to secure the win.

Charles Rhodes scored a game high 30 points and added 14 rebounds and 3 blocks for KT.
Boom Split a Pair of Games Over the Weekend
The KT Sonic Boom looked impressive Saturday, then fell flat Sunday, as they split two games over the weekend.
On Saturday at home, The KT Sonic Boom got off to a quick start and never looked back, defeating the Seoul Samsung Thunders 72-61 for the second time this week.
After KT struggled to beat Samsung 59-54 on Wednesday, this game was never in doubt, as KT led the entire game as once again Samsung struggled to score, while KT's bigger line-up caused all sorts of problems for Samsung defensively, whose youth was evident in the mistakes they were making on the court.
'We got a really young team. We need a lot of work in a lot of areas. We changed the import, and it took us a long time to get used to our old one, and now we got to get used to the new one,' said Eric Sandrin after the game.
KT jumped out to a quick 17-4 lead to open the game, as Samsung once again struggled to take quality shots against the Sonic Boom's aggressive defense. KT's shift to a larger lineup with Park Sang-Oh and Song Young-Jin caused problems inside for Samsungs smaller lineup which couldn't contain the middle, allowing 13 first quarter points in the paint.
Samsung finally found some offensive rhythm to start second quarter, as they jumped out to 12-3 run in the first six minutes of the second quarter, cutting KT's lead to three. Yang Woo-seop took over for KT in the final three minutes, leading a 14-4 run while scoring 10 to give KT a 38-25 halftime lead.
KT took the game over in the third, opening a 21 point lead, led by a four minute 9-0 run midway through the quarter and cruised the rest of the way to the victory.
