A number of residents have woken up to the nation’s emergency alarm system as a pair of minor earthquakes hit the city of Gyeongju earlier this morning.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said a three-point-three magnitude quake occurred eleven kilometers south-southwest of the city at around 5:30 a.m.
Two minutes later, a two-point-two magnitude tremor was detected ten kilometers south-southwest of Gyeonggju, becoming the 561st aftershock.
Not reports of damages have been reported so far.
KMA said they are aftershocks of the five-point-eight magnitude earthquake that struck off Gyeongju last year on September 12th.
