BUSAN, South Korea — In the aftermath of the western sea ferry sinking accident which happened in Jindo waters off the southwestern coast, school trips in Busan have been canceled and the schedules of major events including festivals were canceled or delayed.
The Busan Education Office held a countermeasure meeting under the chairmanship of the acting school superintendent yesterday in connection with the ferry sinking accident which caused many casualties and ordered every school to cancel or delay all experience learning activities which use ships.
Also, the chief of the Naval General Staff Cup Yachting Competition which is scheduled to be held until the 22nd in waters near Jinhae is canceled.
The Gyeongnam Police concert and the Suyong Eobang Festival which is scheduled to be held in Gwangalli next week is delayed, while the Changnyoung Nakdong River Rape Flower Festival has been scaled down.
Busan City also postponed Busan Hang Bridge lighting demonstration event which was scheduled on Tuesday evening.
