Korean Diplomat in Chile Accused of Sexually Harassing Underage Girls

A South Korean diplomat stationed in Chile has caused a diplomatic row with the South American country after a tape of him trying to solicit a teenage girl went viral.

Chilean broadcaster Canal 13 secretly taped the man, surnamed Park, making advances at a teenage girl, trying to kiss and grope her while asking her to be his “lover”. The girl, who was actually a 20-year-old undercover actress, was sent by the producers of the expose show “En Su Propia Trampa” to expose him trying to solicit a teenage girl.

After being caught, he begged the producers of the show saying that he wouldn’t do it again.

He had previously been accused by a 14-year-old of sexual harassment at a Korean language school where he was teaching. There are also reports of him having had similar incidents in China in 2011.

The accused diplomat has been relieved of his duties and is facing an investigation in Chile. The Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a zero-tolerance policy to diplomats to serious issues like sexual abuse of teens it said in a press release.

The South Korean ambassador to Chile will also offer an official apology according to Yonhap News.
