BUSAN, South Korea — Prosecutors raided the office of the Korea Baseball Association (KBA) yesterday as they investigate allegations its employees embezzled the association’s money.
A team of prosecutors and investigators at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office obtained computer hard drives, accounting books and other documents from the office in southern Seoul.
A former secretary general and other employees of the KBA are suspected of siphoning off 730 million won by manipulating financial statements.
The prosecution launched the investigation after the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in January found irregularities in an audit last year.
After analyzing evidence seized from the raid, the prosecution plans to summon KBA employees tied to the case.
