KBL Playoffs – Anyang KGC Hold Off KT To Win Game 1
ANYANG, South Korea - The KT Sonic Boom blew a chance to steal game 1 Sunday, as turnovers and terrible shooting doomed them as Anyang KGC slipped by KT 54-51 to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Chris Daniels had 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Oh Sek-geun had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Charles Rhodes was the only KT player who looked good during the game, scoring a game high 30 points, including two three pointers, and recorded 13 rebounds.
KT looked tired and disorganized in the first half, but Anyang also looked rusty as both teams couldn’t find the basket, but Kim Tae-sool’s free throws with 26.8 seconds left to go were the difference as KGC took a 24-22 halftime lead.
KGC came out stronger in the third, outscoring KT 22-17. Cho Dong-hyun’s basket with 3:10 remaining in the fourth tied the game at 49, but Oh’s layup with 51.7 gave KGC a four point lead.
Park Sang-oh missed a three pointer to tie as time expired, giving KGC the win.
KT committed 17 turnovers and shot 39% from the field. Game 2 is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Anyang.
