Hongbeop Temple Unveils Statue of Ghandi

An official with the city of Busan said the city will host a ceremony to unveil a bust of Indian leader Mohandas Gandhi at Hongbeop Temple, on July 21st. Busan Mayor Seo Byung-soo, the president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and Vishnu Prakash, the Indian ambassador to Korea, will attend the event.

The Gandhi bust was donated from the Indian government to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and India as well as the opening of the Busan Indian Culture Center.

This is the first bust of Gandhi in Korea.
