Haps Weekend Picks September 7,8,9

BUSAN, South Korea – After another busy week of working, planning or whatever, the weekend is here to be enjoyed, and there are a plethora of events going on around town.

Patstock highlights this weekend, where 12 bands and Busan's funny guys all come to honor and support our friend, Pat, who has fallen on some hard times of late. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him out and about as soon as possible. Some other great music, words, sports and hopefully good weather are also on the bill for the first full weekend in September.

Patstock @ Five Local Bars - Patstock promises to be a night not to be forgotten anytime soon, and is all for a great cause to help out one of Busan's most loved expats whose currently in the hospital after a rough patch in the health department. Friday, 6 p.m., HQ, Evas, Ol'55, Vinyl Underground and Club Realize, Kyungsung.

Anthony Garcia @ Sharky's Haeundae – Head on out for a night of fun, music, drinks, great food and a special evening that only the sounds of the acoustic guitar and Anthony can bring. Friday, 8 p.m., Sharky's, Haeundae.

PS I Love You @ Vinyl Underground – Declared one of the best alternative guitarists ever, Paul Saulnier and drummer Benjamin Nelson hit Busan for a concert you don't want to miss. Saturday, 9:30 p.m., Vinyl Underground, Kyungsung.


EPIK Orientation Night @ HQ Jangsan & Hello Kimchi – The Association for Teachers of English in Korea (ATEK) holds a 'Welcoming and information orientation for Busan EPIK teachers' to give information about Busan, get to know each other, and to create a network of friends. Saturday, 5 p.m., HQ Jangsan and Hello Kimchi, Jangsan.

Wordz Only 23 @ Cafe RadioWordz Only is a night of spoken word awesomeness, so if you have poems, fiction, non-fiction, limericks, pantoums, raps or rhymes then bring them on down. Saturday, 8 p.m., Cafe Radio, Kyungsung.


Lotte vs. Hanwha and LG – The KBO is winding down, and this weekend has single games against Hanwha and LG, so get down to Sajik before the season ends if you haven't been yet. Saturday and Sunday, 5 p.m, Sajik Stadium, Sajik-dong.

Dragon Boat Races @ Suyoung River – Hosted by the Asian Dragon Boat Federation and the Korean Dragon Boat Association, the races are a hugely popular spectator event along the Apec Naru Park. Saturday, All day, Apec Naru Park, Suyoung.


3rd Busan Robot Contest @ BEXCO - Explore your inner geek by checking out the latest in robot gadgetry at the 3rd Busan Robot Contest. Friday-Sunday, 10 a.m., BEXCO, Centum City.

US Voter Registration @ Seaman's Club - Time for registering to vote in this year's election is winding down, so if you're an eligible US voter, here is your chance to make your voice heard. Saturday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Seaman's Club, Choryang-dong.
