BUSAN, South Korea — After a cool week to end April, another huge weekend of events is here to greet the start of May.
A plethora of festivals are happening around the city this weekend, as the Busan International Short Film Festival, the Busan International Performing Arts Festival, as well as the Oryukdo and Joseon Tongsinsa festivals are all taking place around the city. Some great night events such as the Ha Ha Hole, a Cinco de Mayo party and the end of HQ as we know it are also on tap for what appears to be a great weather weekend for whatever you have in store.

Metropolitan Operas on Screen @ Busan Cinema Center – The opera La Traviata is being screened as part of the BCC’s month of opera. Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Busan Cinema Center, Centum City.
The End of HQ – as we know it @ HQ Bar – The end of an era comes Friday and Saturday night, so bid adieu to Mutt and Andrew as they pass the torch to the new owners this weekend. Friday and Saturday, 6 p.m., HQ Bar, Kyungsung.
Ha Ha Hole @ Soul Trane – John Meyerriecks hosts this months Ha Ha Hole, a prelude to the big acts heading into the city the next two weeks. Friday, 10 p.m., Soul Trane, PNU.
21st Arirang Yacht Race @ Busan Yacht Center – Starting in Suyeong Bay, teams will race across the sea ending up with a winner in Fukuoka, Japan. Through Sunday, Busan Yacht Club, Haeundae.
Daegu vs. Busan IPark @ Daegu Stadium – The IPark look to extend their unbeaten streak to six games with an afternoon away match against Daegu. Sunday, 3 p.m., Daegu Stadium, Daegu.
Busan International Performing Arts Festival @ Busan Culture Center – Various kinds of performing arts including concept performances, recommended performances, and outdoor performances are held until next weekend at BIPAF 2013. Through May 12, Busan Culture Center, Daeyeon-dong.
Busan International Short Film Festival @ Busan Cinema Center – The 30th version of BISFF is underway with great short films, including 17 from China, this year’s special honored country. Through Sunday, Busan Cinema Center, Haeundae.
Hansul Arts and Crafts Festa 2013 @ Busan Citizen’s Hall – One hundred Korean artists participate in different mediums (textiles, ceramics, etc) as well as international artists as special guests. Through May 17, Busan Citizen’s Hall, Dong-gu.
