BUSAN, South Korea -- The first week of school has finished for students and teachers, and it's a good time to let loose and celebrate. There's some great events planned this weekend around the city, and the weather looks to be splendid as well.

The Rock Tigers and The Islanders concerts headline this weekend with a couple of huge shows that are definitely going to be packed. The boys of summer, the Lotte Giants, also begin their quest for their first title in 20 years with an exhibition series, as well as the second round of the K League Classic games, an art exhibition and more great music round out this week's events.

The Islanders @ Basement and Club Realize - All the way from Taiwan, they’ve been called the most creative band in the Taipei music scene by the China Post and are in town for two shows this weekend. Friday, Club Realize, KSU. Saturday, Basement, PNU.

The Rock Tigers @ Vinyl Underground – The beautiful Velvet Geena returns to Busan with the rockabilly sounds of the Rock Tigers, who if you’ve never seen, are something you do not want to miss. Saturday, 10 p.m., Vinyl Underground, KSU.

Violet Lea @ Soul Trane – Violet’s back in PNU Friday night with guitar in toe for her monthly jam session at Soul Trane. Friday, 9:30 p.m., Soul Trane, PNU.

Six Nations @ Beached and Wolfhound - Round four pits Wales vs. Scotland and Ireland vs. France as the Six Nations rolls on. Saturday, 10:30 p.m., Beached, Gwangalli and Wolfhound, Haeundae.


Lotte Giants vs. SK Knights @ Sajik Stadium – Yes, it’s hard to believe but the Giants are back for their first exhibition series vs. SK. Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m., Sajik Stadium, Sajik-dong.

Busan IPark vs. Gyeongnam FC @ Changwon Soccer Center – The IPark make the short trek down the highway to Changwon for their second round K League Classic battle with Gyeongnam. Sunday, 2 p.m., Changwon Soccer Center, Changwon.


Busan Transportation Club vs. Gyeongju @ Gudeok Stadium - The team names are way to long to put in the title, but the football is stellar, there’s a great expat atmosphere, and there is a camera crew coming to film a story about the life of foreigners at the game. Saturday, 3 p.m., Gudeok Stadium, Daeshin-dong.

Shin Okjin’s Collection @ Busan Museum of Art – Check out some modern and contemporary Japanese art by artists Yokoyama Taikan and Fujikawa Yuzo with free admission at the Busan Museum of Art. Through July 7, 10 a.m., Busan Museum of Art, Haeundae.

Lee Hyun-jung Cello Recital @ Busan Cultural Center – Cellist Lee Hyun-jung brings some Brahms and Strauss to the Busan Cultural Center Saturday evening for a night of great classical music. Saturday, 7 p.m., Busan Cultural Center, Daeyeon-dong.
