BUSAN, South Korea — It's hard to believe, but this weekend brings about the halfway point of 2012. It also signifies the start of the monsoon season on the peninsula, which will bring some much needed rain to the central parts of the country who have received only five percent of their total rainfall for the spring.

Brian Aylward @ Sharky’s and HQ – Canadian funnyman Brian Aylward is in town for two shows this weekend, and is sure to get the crowd going with his unique style that has won him many an award over the years for his keen sense of humor. Canada Day Parties – Though July 1 is the actual date, Eva’s and Starface have parties this Saturday on June 30 to give the Canucks around town Sunday to recover from all the poutine and beer they can handle. Second Annual Busan Mayor’s Surf Competition – Surfers from near and far descend upon Haeundae Beach this weekend for the annual surfing competition which brings some of the best surfers around to the sandy shores of Haeundae. Friday through Sunday afternoon, Haeundae

Madame Tussauds Busan – Madame Tussauds bring their life-like replications to Shinsegae Department Store for a 10-month run starting Friday. Admission is 9,000 won, but the chance to stand next to your favorite star is priceless. Through March, Shinsegae Centum City, 6th floor
The Illusion: Lee Eun-gyeol’s Magic Show – Love it or hate it, Lee Eun-gyeol is a very good magician. He’s in town for three shows over the weekend and his tickets don’t come cheap, but he is worth the price of admission. Saturday and Sunday, Busan Culture Center
