BUSAN, South Korea — As the last weekend before Korean kids hit the classrooms is upon us, it's time for the teachers to squeeze in one last party weekend before the autumn quickly approaches and those lazy days at the beach are a thing of the past.
This weekend is highlighted by the Soundwave Festival which is set to take over Gwangalli Beach for the weekend with some great bands and DJs sure to make you want to dance on the sand. There's also some great sporting events and live music wherever you end up this weekend around the city.

Live Music @ The Wolfhound - Gino Brann and Violet Lea are on tap for the third of the weekly acoustic sets going at Wolfhound this month, and the "pour your own doubles" are on tap as well at Busan's favorite Irish pub. Friday, 10 p.m., The Wolfhound, Haeundae.
Genius @ Cafe Upstairs – A big musical lineup of Genius, Three Summer, Kim Tae-chun and Busan Adeul are set for an acoustic evening of rhythm and blues. Saturday, 8 p.m., Cafe Upstairs, PNU.
Soundwave Festival @ Gwangalli Beach – Two days of music hit Gwangalli Beach this weekend with three stages with domestic and international groups and DJs and a culture wave arts market. Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. – late, Gwangalli Beach.
Brenmar @ Club NF – Internationally renowned DJ Brenmar hits Club New Foxy this Saturday for a spin before headlining the Soundwave Festival on Sunday. Saturday, 10 p.m., Club NF, Kyungsung.
Lotte vs. Nexen – The KBO is heading into the homestretch, so catch some local baseball action down in Sajik before the playoffs get underway and you can't get a seat! Friday – Sunday, 5 p.m, Sajik Stadium, Sajik-dong.
WKF Karate1 World Cup – Seven hundred karate athletes from over 30 countries descend on Busan this weekend for the Karate1 World Cup. Admission is free for spectators. Through August 21, 9 a.m., Sajik Gymansium, Sajik-dong.
Banjjokki's Imagination Museum @ Hanseul Gallery - Banjokki is famous for his imagination and creative works, which are on display for a month at the Hanseul Gallery at Busan Citizen's Hall. Through August 29, 10:30 a.m., Hanseul Gallery, Busan Citizen's Hall.
Concert for Dorothy @ Mabuhay Restaurant - FIMIWAP (Filipino Migrant Workers’ Association in Busan) is conducting a fundraising Concert for Dorothy House Clinic operated by Catholic Migrant Workers’ Office.
