BUSAN, South Korea -- Haeundae-gu office is planning to promote offshore current surfing as an extreme sport. Haeundae-gu held an exhibition experience event yesterday to gauge safety before opening the sport to regular operation as a sightseeing product. 

Ten rescue workers from Busan fire department and South Regional Headquarters Korea Coast Guard participated in the exhibition event. 

Officials at Haeundae-gu said if surfers wear a safety harness when enjoying the waves, there will be no major problems. 

Haeundae-gu will begin more detailed preparation to make offshore current surfing a tourism product twice a month, starting at the end of this month.
