Busan’s Gimhae International Airport is looking for vendors that can provide transportation services internationally.
The city office is going to conduct a public invitational event to expand international routes at Gimhae Airport.
It is a month long event, lasting until February 3rd. It is inviting air operators that might be interested in operating regularly scheduled flights more than twice a week for longer than a year to international destinations that are not currently offered at Gimhae Airport.
For the air operators selected in the public invitation, the city will cover losses for up to one year in cases the average occupancy rate fails to reach the standard occupancy rate of 70 to 80 percent, in line with the ordinance of Busan.
Passengers are on the rise at Gimhae International Airport
A new survey shows that the number of passengers who used Gimhae Airport last year has drastically increased.
Busan branch of the Korea Airports Corporation said there were 14.9 million passengers who used Gimhae Airport last year which is an increase of nearly 20 percent compared to the previous year.
Particularly, the number of passengers who were on an international flight at Gimhae Airport last year was recorded at 7.77 million, which is a drastic increase of nearly 31 percent compared to the previous year.
