BUSAN, South Korea — The Busan Foundation for International Activities provides free translation and interpretation for foreigners having difficulty communicating in Korean. The service is available at hospitals and public institutions.
Interpretation and translation will be provided by 25 supporters offering one-on-one services in English, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Vietnamese and Indonesian.
Foreigners who wish to receive free interpretation services can call the foundation at (1577-7716) or make reservations on its Web site (www.bfia.or.kr/english/contents/b1_3.asp). Reservations are requested. Next year, the foundation plans to add Cambodian and Burmese.
Since 2009, Busan city has operated a foreigner call center at the Global Center that provides free consultations in Korean, English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Russian and Uzbek to help foreigners adjust to life in Busan.
