BUSAN, South Korea -- Busan Yeonje Police have arrested four individuals responsible for the theft of two billion won worth of smart phones. 

One of the suspects is a 35-year-old Chinese man named Son who smuggled lost or stolen smart phones to China. He was booked without detention. 

Police also confiscated 102 smart phones that could be valued up to 100 million won. 

Last Friday, Samsung Electronics will add two safeguards to its latest smartphone in an effort to deter rampant theft of the mobile devices nationwide.

According to the Chosun Ilbo, an average of 1,800 smartphones go missing every day. Recently, a total of 56,841 missing mobile phones per month were reported to the National Police Agency.
