2012 Spring Semester - Week 2 Advanced
I had a culture shock when I was in Kazakhstan for my exchange student program.
At that time, I live in dormitory with one of student from Uzbekistan.
He is older than me , so I want to be polite to him. So I told him that,
" I`ll doing something more when we clean our room, because I`m younger than you."
But he told to me "That does not t make sense. I`ll doing something more when we clean our room,
because I`m older than you."
It make me little confusing because I Korea young people doing something more for the older people.
When I was in indonesia for sightseeing; three years ago - i was experience interesting different cultures.
first, there was different weather. Indonesia always hot weather, so people's skin is infuscate.
second, they have many kinds of tea. i entered jakarta airport, that site blended many teas smell.
finally-other country may have does-when i ate some food, i pay for food cost and give some tips for waiter.
Actyally, that point was shocked. because korea have not tip culture, so we only pay for the food cost.
but indonesia and many other country have tip culture.
before the visited indonesia, i pay for waiter in korea too. i was very embaressed,
but that experience was thaught me different culture system.
what is something when people visit your country that might be different than in their country?
Frist i know. American put on shoes in home . But we aren't . Two we use spoon and chopstick.
But most aboard used pork and knife. Because they main eat mit.
Also way of greeting is diffrent. Korea is bow head. But aboard is hug and kiss on cheek, forehead.
Last i thinkt diffrent sexual discrimination. Korea more harsh than aboard.
Thank you.

I was 9 years old. I went to the japan and visited my daddy's Japanese friend's house. The house was traditional house so floor is a japanese floor mat and smelt of incense. Those were not culture difference. But I was very shocked . because small shrine is in the room...!! And we would sleep that room...!! In korea has ,ceremony for ancestors ,'Jesa'. But that is one day make a table and The family gathers together to remember the deceased . and I'm christian so I had never seen. That time I was young so very scared. I felt sleep with ghosts and more smelt of incense. That night, I can't slept all night and I dreamed ghosts dream a while. Now I learned japanese culturs so understand but that time, Very shocked culture difference to me.
This week's question is: What is an example of a culture difference that you have experienced before? Or if you haven't had that situation before, what is something when people visit your country that might be different than in their country?
A few days ago, I accidentally saw a TV program.
TV programs show foreigner being adapted to South Korea culture.
Foreigner was surprised.
Because after lunch all people is bushing their teeth.
I was surprised to see surprised foreigners.
Because this is one of the South Korea culture .
I've seen on TV program 'Beautiful Women'
There has never been aired about the cultural differences
The most impressive was the food culture, the cultural differences.
In Korea, there is a dog eat boiled.
In fact, I do not like dog meat, I do not think it's wrong.
Because Korea is a lot of energy was needed for farming lived comfortably.
To replenish the energy I should have eaten the meat, cattle, pigs and dogs less expensive dog on the other hand, whether boiled protein was not recruited.
So why eat dog meat in Korea correctly because once you know about what was wrong to think that it should not blindly believe.
I went to travel abroad, but it goes to, I think the biggest cultural difference is the language.
Only the combination of words, then you know to say, We are able to make a mistake.
And there seems to be the difference in food culture.
Our country, put in one place as a side dish to eat and eat, etc.
This is not the case in foreign countries.
If you have foreign friends, the family sat at the table I would like to inform you eat. Culture.
when foreigners come to korea, they surprise to kimchi.
To korean, kimchi is needed food in any time when we eat something.
korean eat it when they have breakfast ,have a snack .. usually they have it around them.

When foreigner visit my contury, they have a strange feel that we have to take off a shouse in the room.
because they don't have to take off a shouse in the room.
and they don't have to use the honorific form of language.
but we must use the honorific to older people.
