SEOUL, South Korea – Local media reported today that Arsenal striker Park Chu-young has finally spoken about his plans to complete his military service, a month after dodging the question on his return to Korea and exclusion from the Korean Olympic and national squads.
"I am sorry," Park he said to Yonhap news agency. "As one of the (Korean) people, I will do my sacred military service no matter what."
Fans and the KFA have been at odds with the 26-year-old striker since he took a 10-year residence permit from Monaco and delayed his mandatory military service.
With the announcement, the possibility for his return to the national squad and as an Olympic team wildcard may no longer be in doubt.
