DOHA, Qatar – The South Korean men's national football team took their first steps towards the 2014 Brazil World Cup with an impressive 4-1 win over Qatar at in Doha Friday night.
After Yousef Ahmad Ali gave Qatar an early lead in the 22nd minute, Lee Keun-ho equalized four minutes later when his header escaped the Qatar keepers grasp.
Korea then took over in the second half, as Lee's Ulsan Horang teammates Kwak Tae-hwi in the 55th and Kim Shin-wook in the 64th put the match out of reach. Lee then connected on his second of the game in the 80th minute to give Korea the three points.
Korea now moves on home to play Uzbekistan for their second game of the final qualifying stage Tuesday night. The top two teams in both of the five-team qualifying groups will secure an automatic spot in Brazil. The third-place teams advance to a playoff.
