First Annual SantaCon Takes Place this Weekend in Busan

BUSAN, South Korea — On Saturday, December 15, Kyungsung will host one of the most festive nights of the holiday season with one of the largest gatherings of Santa’s in Korea: Santacon. For those of you who have never heard of Santacon, it’s pretty straight forward: dress like the big guy in red, sing carols, drink and be merry and all for a worthy cause. In the spirit of holiday giving HQ, Eva’s, Ol’55, Sharky’s and Blue Monkey will have donation boxes set up and the proceeds will go to buy much needed supplies for the Busan Women’s Shelter. Give whatever you can because no donation is too small. Join us in a night of food, drink specials and live music from some of Busan’s biggest names.

Evening Lineup

7:00 p.m. – Start off the night right with a holiday dinner special at HQ; your choice of the veggie lasagna for 10,000 won or the BBQ pork plate for 8,000. A portion of the proceeds goes directly to the women’s shelter.

9:00 p.m. – Meet at the fourth floor of HQ for the Santa group photo.

9:30-10:30 p.m. – Come sing your heart out with Christmas carols led by Tyron Page and Melissa Kingsley located conveniently in front of the famous KSU CU (ex-Family mart).

10:30 p.m. – Live Christmas inspired tunes at Ol’55, HQ and Eva’s or, if you feel the need to dance and groove, Blue Monkey will be playing all the hits.

HQ – Listen to the silky smooth voices of Gino Brann and Violet Lea singing all the holiday hits guaranteed to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Eva’s – If Ameri-folk-grass is your flavor, head over to Eva’s for a toe-tappin’ good time with Keith, Jay and Elizabeth of The Rowdy Gents. Their tunes are rugged, gentle and fun…just like the perfect man.

Ol’55 – If a night of great rock jams is what you fancy then head on over to Ol’55. Kicking off the night with Millstone Grit getting it started right with some rock n’ roll. Next up, Jake and the Slut, a folk-funk-hard-rock gang that is sure to get your feet moving and topping off the night with Soon Su and the Innocents, a beautiful mix of heavy rock, happy indie and sweet magic. Local favorites Robscenity, J. Jones and One Drop East will also be hitting the stage for a great night of music.
