BUSAN, South Korea -- An official with the Busan Police Agency announced the agency would begin special crime prevention activities for New Year's festivities. 

Measures include strengthening patrol activities around crime-ridden districts, banking and business establishments that handle cash and begin prevention activities of crimes against drunk and disorderly individuals and in red-light districts. 

Police will also station plain clothes policemen around main targets for robbery and burglary including convenience stores, department stores and various event halls. Plans also include continuing a crackdown on gangsters until the end of January of 2014. 

Police will also strengthen patrol activities and will stakeout locations by using the geographical profiling system, as well as a crime analysis and prediction map.
