BUSAN, South Korea — The Busan Buddhism Association and Buddhist Association of Busan held an emergency meeting in the room of the chief priest at the Beomeo Buddhist temple and decided to cancel Busan Lotus Lantern Festival and the lantern procession which were set for the 26th.
They also decided to cancel the Busan Police Agency’s Buddhist ceremony set for the 28th.
Busan Buddhism World made this decision to commemorate victims and to pray for the safe return of missing people in connection with the Sewol Ferry accident.
Also, it decided to include a ceremony to commemorate the victims of Sewol Ferry during the event of the Day of Buddha’s Coming in every Buddhist temples of Busan.
