BUSAN, South Korea -- To celebrate Buddha's birthday on May 17, splendid lotus lanterns will float all across Busan. Lanterns symbolize the celebration of Buddha's birth, and those for the event will be created in the shape of lotus flowers. This is a chance to get a glimpse of Korea's deep-rooted Buddhist culture. 

In CNN's 2012 list of the 50 Most Beautiful Places to Visit in Korea, Samgwangsa Temple Lantern Festival was among the selections. The Samgwangsa Temple Lantern Festival will be held from May 5 to 19.  Pictured above is a scene from the previous festival.
