Busan has established friendly relations with Bangkok, Thailand. The Mayor of Busan, Hur Nam-sik and the Mayor of Bangkok, Sukhumbhand Paribatra concluded a signing ceremony for friendly relations at Bangkok City Hall, March 14 which aims at co-development for the two cities. Both cities plan to focus on personal exchanges and share information in various fields including tourism, the economy, society, culture, education, the environment, professional skills and youth policies. Busan expects businesses here which enjoy competitive advantages in information and communications services, automobiles and fashion to make inroads into the Bangkok market. Mayor Hur, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva of Thailand, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and city representatives agreed to cooperate on developing infrastructure in response to disaster prevention, traffic and environmental problems, and on areas of common interest including the film and image and medical tourism industries.
