The city of Busan established special countermeasures designed to help prevent large forest fires and began activities to prevent them since spring is about to arrive with an increased likelihood of fires due to dry weather.

A total of 35 forest fires broke out during the spring season in Busan during the past five years. Among them, 12 cases, or 34 percent, occurred between March and April.

There were 21 cases of accidental fires caused by climbers during that time, making it the most common cause of forest fires.
