Singer Daesung, 22, of the very popular group Big Bang, was charged in relation to a car accident this past Tuesday morning in Seoul.
The singer was driving his Audi across the Yanghwa Bridge at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning when he ran over a motorcyclist who was laying on the road. The car then careened into a taxi, injuring a 45-year-old taxi driver. Conflicting reports have Daesung driving at 80km/hr, which is 20 km/hr over the speed limit, though his group, YG Entertainment insists the driver was maintaining the speed limit. Alcohol has been ruled out as a cause of the accident.
The police are now conducting a thorough investigation of the case, while the singer has been released for the time being, and is resting at his group's dorm room in Seoul, though distraught from the incident. Further charges are pending a complete investigation.
The accident is the latest in a long line of celebrity car accidents over the past few years on the roads of Seoul.
