Busan International Film Festival 2013

BIFF Unveils Official Poster for 2014

The 19th Busan International Film Festival (October 2 – 11, 2014) selected its official poster and marked the beginning of the intense preparation.

The official poster is based on original work Emotion1/4 Y.R.G.W by Korean painted sculpture artist Lee Hyuck Jin, and designed by the Busan International Film Festival’s art director, Choi Soon-dae.

Emotion1/4 Y.R.G.W by Lee Hyuck Jin is a ‘painted sculpture’ produced by combining pictures and long pieces cut from boards made of fiber on top of resin. These were assembled by entwining horizontal and vertical pieces, much like traditional Korean basket weaving, and painting on the surface. The ‘togetherness’ of films, audiences, and cineastes is represented by the intertwined pieces and the bright colors reflect the celebratory nature of the Busan International Film Festival.

Lee Hyuck Jin strives to produce works outside the traditional structures of art by utilizing the original techniques of ‘painted sculpture’, and colorful and intense images.

The selection of the official poster kick starts the Busan International Film Festival Organizing Committee in the process of film and guest invitation, and event planning. The Busan International Film Festival opens on October 2, 2014 and will be held for 10 days.
