BIFF Budget Slashed by 200 Million Won This Year

The Korean Film Council has cut its support fund for the Busan International Film Festival by nearly 200 million won this year.

The council said it examined the international film festival promotion support project yesterday and decided to support 2.5 billion won for six international film festivals across the country, which has decreased by 700 million won compared with last year.

With this, the amount of government support for the BIFF will be 760 million won this year, which has decreased by 190 million won compared with 950 million won last year.

Pucheon International Film Festival and Jeonju International Film Festival also saw their budgets cut by 100 million won.
