BUSAN, South Korea – The KT Sonic Boom need Charles Rhodes ankle to recover and fast.
Chris Williams scored 29 points and Choi Jin-soo added 24 as the Goyang Orions defeated the KT Sonic Boom 84-72 Friday night in Busan.
The Sonic Boom’s injured starting center Rhodes has missed the past three games nursing an ankle injury, and have lost all three. They have lost the last four of five.
Park Sang-oh scored 23 for KT, while Reggie Okosa notched 20.
Goyang came out on fire in the first quarter, connecting on 69% of their shots. After Cho Dong-Hyun hit two free throws to tie the game at 16 on Daniel Sandrin's third foul with 1:33 left, Goyang rattled off six straight points to take a 22-16 lead.
After Chris Williams four straight points gave Goyang a 35-28 lead midway through the second, KT went on an 8-0 run over the next 2:41 to take their first lead of the game.
Chris Williams scored ten consecutive points for Goyang in the third giving them a five point lead in the third, capping off an impressive game which also included six rebounds, eight assists and five steals.
Kim Hyun-min could have brought KT back to within six with three minutes to go, but missed three of four free throws, paving the way for Goyang to outscore KT 9-5 down the stretch to mark their second straight win.
