American food in Bangkok? Absolutely! One trip to Bourbon Street will change your mind. You might not have had Cajun food this good since your last trip to New Orleans.

Let’s be honest -- there are many, many good reasons to go to Thailand -- the weather, the sand, the golf, the girls (or guys, or ladyboys if that’s your thing!) -- but most definitely, the food.
In Bangkok, almost everywhere you go you can smell the food. Thai food, known for its spice, exoticness and distinctive flavors, has easily become an international favorite of many. And though travelers might not see any reason to skip the Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai or Gaeng Keow Wan Kai aka Green Chicken Curry, the international fare available is also just as good. One might not think that American food would be high on that list - that is, until they hit Bourbon Street.
Nestled just off Sukhumvit Road Soi 22 is Bourbon Street Restaurant, Oyster Bar and Hotel. For the past 16 years, New Orleans native Doug Harrison has created a little piece of Americana in Washington Square, serving up Cajun dishes such as boiled live crawfish, blackened redfish, jambalaya, and gumbo. And it’s good - damn good!
Open from 7:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. daily, this award-winning restaurant won "Best American Restaurant" Category five years in a row with their Cajun Creole and American Cuisine. Other menu favorites include BBQ Baby Back Ribs and Chicken, Char Grilled Steaks and great entrees such as Chicken Fried Steak, Beef Brisket and Fried Chicken, and they also have an all-you-can-eat Mexican night on Tuesday’s.
The next time you’re in Bangkok, give it a try - you won’t be disappointed.
How to get there:
Located off Sukhumvit Road Soi 22 (Soi Sai Nam Thip) behind the Mambo Cabaret. Go down Soi 22 about 150 meters and turn left at the first street. Bourbon Street is straight ahead about 100 meters just beyond the Hairy Pie bar.
