Global Companies Continue Investing in Busan

BUSAN, South Korea -- Global companies are flocking to Busan for investment opportunities. In 2012, Busan City has signed MOU with four global companies.

$10 million from shipping engine parts company Geislinger of Austria, $13 million from Swedish automobile parts company Höganäs, $12.6 million from Japanese semiconductor gas-valve production company Hamai and $45 million from a plastic engineering German company. The total foreign investment Busan attracted this year is $80.6 million. These companies are planning to recruit 247 talents from Busan.

Among the companies that promised to invest in Busan, Geislinger had its ground-breaking in April when it started its factory construction. German pump manufacturer Wilo SE and German Bosch Rexroth which agreed last year to invest in Busan will start operating its factory from end of this year and within next year.

Japanese company Hamai signed an MOU with Busan on Oct. 16 to establish a new corporate body in Korea, Hamai Korea and construct a 2,400-square-meter (25,833-square-foot) scale high technology factory in Mieum Industrial Complex’s foreign investment zone. Local companies are also moving to Busan.
