Great news for baseball fans, as this year the best in Asian baseball will come to Busan in November.

BUSAN, South Korea - The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) and Busan City have agreed to host the 2012 Asia Series in Busan.

The Asia Series is an international baseball tournament in East Asia played between the championship winning teams of the professional baseball leagues in Korea, Japan, Australia, Taiwan and China. The winner of last year’s Asia Series, held in Taiwan, was Korea's Samsung Lions.

The 2012 Asia Series will be held at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, over four days, from November 8 through 11. This will be the first time that the Asia Series is being held in South Korea. A total six teams, including the local Lotte Giants team based in Busan, the championship winning team of the Korean Series (or the second placed team if the championship is won by the Lotte Giants), and the championship winning team from Japan, Australia, Taiwan and China, respectively, will compete in this year’s Asia Series.

An official of Busan City said, “To successfully host the 2012 Asia Series in Busan, we plan to give full support to and actively promote the Asia Series. We expect Busan citizens’ renowned passion for baseball to reach new heights during the Asia Series.”
