DAEJEON, South Korea – Warm weather has come to grace us once again this year, and it’s time for the 3rd Annual “Angel’s Ride for Charity”, on May 28th in Daeheung dong, Daejeon (Old Downtown). Riders of all-sized motorcycles and scooters are encouraged to join the ride and festivities by donating their time and the money pledged by their sponsors to support the underprivileged children of Daejeon.
The event started in 2009 with Daejeon Riders and Daejeon Access Magazine joining forces and creating an event to bring the Daejeon community together, both Koreans and expats while at the same time showing our support for those less fortunate.
This year’s event promises to bigger and better than previous years with the sponsorship of the Daejeon International Community Center (DICC).There will be lots of great food and drink with great bands including Busan’s Hajimama joined by a full lineup ranging from jazz to rock, and from acoustic to K-Pop. Hajimama, will be performing songs from their new album Abandon Seoul, which is coming out in May.
The festival has grown since it first started in 2009 with 15 riders participating and collecting pledges from sponsors. And 2010 saw the roster grow to 22 as riders from around Korea came to enjoy the festivities for charity. Most of the crowd doesn't come for the ride –they come for a great outdoor event with music and food.
So, even if you don’t have a cycle, come on out for the festival and enjoy the music and food. Daejeon is just a little over an hour-and-a-half away on the KTX. If you have never been to Daejeon, it is well worth a visit for the weekend.
The outdoor stage in Daeheung-dong is easily accessible by subway from Daejeon Train Station. Take the subway from Daejeon Station to Jungangno stop – exit 4.
