5 Korean Films Make Selection at Cannes This Year

Five Korean films have been selected for the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in 2017.

Two of them, will also compete for major honors.

Director Hong Sang-soo sees two of his films — The Day After in the competition category and Claire’s Camera which gets a special screening — at the festival this year.

Bong Joon-ho’s Okja is also up for the prestigious Palme d’Or award.

No Korean director has yet won the coveted prize.

The Villainess by Jung Byung-gil and The Merciless by Byun Sung-hyun will be screened during the midnight section.

The festival runs from May 17-28.
