A Busan official announced that the city has prepared for a forest fire prevention plan by closing mountain trails to hikers and increasing the amount of forest rangers around the city’s wooded areas.
The city and the Busan Infrastructure Corporation have designed 20 areas totaling 12,633 hectares, or 35.4 percent of the region’s forested areas in and around the city for preventative measures.
The city has also decided to close 167 hiking trails, or 37.6 percent of all trails in the area, with the help of 712 forest rangers.
In addition, the city has secured 3 helicopters, 52 surveillance cameras and 42 fire trucks to carry out the effort.
