18-year-old Russian Student Among Missing Passengers

JINDO, South Korea — An Russian male high school student is among the 297 missing people in the waters off the southwest coast of Korea after the Sewol capsized near Jindo yesterday morning. The 18-year-old named Serkov was a student at Danwon High School.

Chinese English Language paper Daily6 raised the possibility of two Chinese nationals being on board, however Korean police denied that any Chinese are missing. Two ethnic Korean-Chinese were later confirmed to be on the ship though their whereabouts are unknown.

Two Filipino singers, aged 40 and 45, also aboard the ship were among those rescued yesterday.
